Learners are shown various skills and tips on how to make the most out of food available and how to make it go further. Cooking and baking skills are practiced and the results are shared with whanau as well as the wider community through projects such as Elim Community Meal.
Just some of the tasty foods that have been made by our learners include Gingerbread houses, Hearty vegetable soups, Cheese scones, chocolate brownies, various speciality breads and cookies. These have all been gratefully received and enjoyed by our learners whanau, friends and the community
A lot of the ingredients for these tasty dishes have come from our MLC whanau community, including a wonderful vegetable plot at the Survival Farm owned, tended and cared for by Leslie who very generously offers sessions for learners to experience the food process from sowing, growing and harvesting produce right through to prepping, cooking and (the yummy bit) eating!
